The compressor in driven by a belt and pulley
attached to the the drive shaft in the starter adapter, not all adapters have
this shaft. To tell, wither the long shaft or the short shaft is installed, look
at the back of the starter adapter and if there is a 12 point nut showing it is
the long shaft and no further action is required. If it is smooth, it would have
to be changed.
